Yours Truly..... Kolkata.

Old, beautiful and preferred.

Coming to the city of joy  for years now,  but dreamt of living here since childhood. Before actually doing my PG,  residing and working from Kolkata I used to visit with my parents , siblings either for their work or for visiting relatives, was just a tag along. Fantasized and franatized by the city scapes and the evolved modern ambience which the city created around itself over the years but withholds tales of past atrocities and stories. The roads, the houses and the architecture and the culture attracts certain aura around certain places where you will feel like a true Bengali alongside it'll also bring before you certain left over heritage buildings and decors which leds us to the horrific tales yet decorative of the impact which which Bengal has faced due to the British rule. Since the inception of the British rule everything had been drained from Bengal but it's rich heritage and diversity which it still holds dearly.

The city is huge, when you reside and travel around it but if you look at the overview the city, it revolves around the banks of the Ganges. The river stretches through the middle and around the banks different important business powerhouses as well as settlements had been set up long before, especially at around the Sutanuti area and the areas where the settlements were strong and which held a position of power and authority.

The impact of globalisation has taken its toll , being a metropolitan city vehicles are all around like anything following dreadful traffic jams all around, the city is cramped  to its limit (both transport and resedential) but the population is growing day by day , work attraction and availability due to a metro area brings the city many more residents for gain or for studies from different parts of the country.

The political scene in the city has always been buzzing and has actively taken part in politics due to the scene being diversified in a very modern manner, keeping up with has been very very difficult but the one in power holds the whole of Bengal.

Despite growing up a small town kid to going on studying in the foothills, the attraction remains the same for City of Joy. When you return to this city a wierd feeling feeling of acceptance and isolation will grasp you very quickly, but all the troubles aside this city will remain what it was because the glory and the history which the city brings with itself and portrays is unfathomable which is experienced mostly in the night time when half the city sleeps and half is in business still.

Kolkata has welcomed many people with open arms, its rich, diversified heritage has always attracted people from all over the world, once the powerhouse of the British Empire now a cultural heritage city boasting history and coping up with modernization as our beloved country India that is Bharat embodies.
